New Academic Coordinator IRiLiS
In February 2024, Jacolien Wubs replaced Janieke Bruin-Mollenhorst as coordinator for IRiLiS.
Thanks for efforts Janieke Bruin-Mollenhorst
In February 2024, academic coordinator Janieke Bruin-Mollenhorst left her post at IRiLiS in order to become a postdoc researcher at IQ Health, Radboud UMC in Nijmegen. She now works on a project on end-of-life care for people with dementia. During her two years as IRiLiS’ academic coordinator, Janieke was, among other things, responsible for the organisation of the events marking the festive 30th anniversary of the institute in 2022. She also carefully guided the process of the Yearbook for Ritual and Liturgical Studies transforming into a continuous publication model, resulting in YRLS being an attractive Open Access high quality journal with a relatively short lead time, that publishes articles free of charge. At the end of the IRiLiS-symposium on January 18, the president of the board, Joanna Wojtkowiak, thanked Janieke for her efforts for IRiLiS, praising her for the unwavering energy and enthusiasm that marked her style of work.
Start Jacolien Wubs
Per 1 March, Jacolien Wubs has taken over the role of academic coordinator at IRiLiS. Trained as an art historian, Jacolien obtained her PhD at the University of Groningen in 2021 with a thesis entitled To Proclaim, to Instruct and to Discipline. The Visuality of Texts in Calvinist Churches in the Dutch Republic. She examined how text decoration was used in the appropriation and adaptation of churches for Reformed worship, in the late sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. For this project, she also spent a semester as a visiting researcher at the University Museum of Bergen (Norway), department of church art. Currently, Jacolien teaches Public History at the University of Groningen, Faculty of Arts. The board and the interim director of IRiLiS are looking forward to working with Jacolien in her role as new coordinator.
