Worship / formation

Kirsten van der Ham (1996) is a PhD researcher in the field of Practical Theology. She received her Research Master's degree in theology and religious studies from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with the specializations Peace, Trauma and Religion and Contextual Biblical Interpretation. In her PhD project, Van der Ham combines both specializations in a research on how churches can engage with racism in Dutch society, with due regard for the role of Christian theology and churches in the construct of race and maintaining the racist system. She explores whether Contextual Bible Study and Intercultural Bible Reading can provide a method for church members to work on this topic in church settings.
